Mogadishu concert raises money for street children

A Music Concert aimed at raising funds to assist street children has been held at City Palace Hotel in Mogadishu.
The Thursday morning event was organised by Benadir regional administration in collaboration with Somali artiste groups from the diaspora. It is part of a plan by the government to raise thousands of dollars for street children in Mogadishu.
More than 500 people including members of parliament and women groups attended the event, with entry tickets being sold at $10 per head.
Speaking at the event, Mogadishu mayor Mohamoud Ahmed Tarsan said the idea to have the concert was born out of a need to help street urchins to boost their moral and perception towards the society.
